Vatican City conference venue is elevated to HD with Panasonic
Built in the Vatican City in 1561
as a summer residence for Pope Pius IV, the Casina Pio IV has been transformed by Panasonic and Rome based Electronic Design Systems (EPS) into a state of the art Audio
and Video conference centre.
Surrounded by green papal gardens and located within the walls of Vatican City, the former Papal residence of Pope Pius IV has housed the Pontifical Academy of Sciences since 1847. It is now at the cutting edge of HD video conferencing thanks to a project implemented by Panasonic Italy and their Rome based partner Electronic Design Systems (EPS).
Two 103” professional plasma displays from Panasonic had previously been fed by an SD camera system and so Panasonic and EPS arranged a demonstration to show Vatican officials the full potential of HD, and they liked what they saw.
Four AW-HE50S remote cameras were connected Via a AW-HS50, a SDI video switcher to produce Full HD images fed to the screens in the centre and via IP for remote video conferencing. The choice of the AWHE50S cameras enabled maximum flexibility to manage coverage of all areas of the venue from the control room. Management is further simplified by the use of 40 preset positions for each camera.
