Effortless Multi-Format Mixing with KAIROS

The most challenging part is that you have to mix many different kinds of inputs and you have to go out to many kinds of screens which have different resolutions, frame rates. Today we worked with five different cameras sending it to the streaming for the DJ but also we had an LED wall in the back of 6144 pixels by 1728, which is not common for a normal broadcaster mixer, but with the KAIROS it's easy to make a new scene send it out to an LED to two processors and it's not a problem at all.

Mix and seamlessly manage diverse inputs.

KAIROS is not restricted in this way because it doesn't have a system format. Different resolutions, frame rates and interlaced/progressive signals can be input directly without conversion. On the other hand, the system (video) format of a hardware switcher is fixed for each device, so conversion is required to input different video formats, including IP/SDI converters for IP signals. The same is true for streaming.

With the built-in RAM Player, Clip Player and Audio Player, footage can be played loaded video/audio files. A playlist function has been added to the Clip/RAM player. It also has a still picture storage. System software Version 1.5 enables KAIROS input/output video to be captured as still images as well as video clips on the RAM Player.

Layered effects with unrestricted number of MEs

Unlike the conventional hardware-based switcher, KAIROS is unrestricted by the number of MEs or keys. Layers can be added as the GPU capacity permits similar to the layers of a standard image- editing app, allowing you to set the keys and scaling freely. The Kairos Core 2000 in particular has significantly increased the number of layers by increasing the GPU video processing capacity to enable more complex and advanced video expressions.
System software V1.5 includes 2.5D DVE support (rotation and position adjustment using X, Y and Z axis).

Resolution independent

Standard video formats with different resolutions such as 4K/HD can be mixed and used. I/P conversion of input enables the use of 1080/59.94i and 1080/50i interlaced video inputs/output. From Ver. 2.0, flexible resolution settings not bound by standard formats are supported, allowing the system to be used in more situations with more video equipment.

Support HTML5 graphics

HTML5 graphics are now supported*, allowing scores and other graphics to be input into KAIROS directly without converting files or to manipulate the web from KAIROS using the web browser/ page as a video source without modification. Direct input from Singular live and Viz Flowics into KAIROS is now possible, making it possible to create more diverse performances in real-time.

One of the really awesome integrations is the RossTalk integration. By building out a number of macros, we've been able to leverage RossTalk to communicate with our XPression system and give our technical director the opportunity to manage some of the on-screen graphics during a production. Because the technical director now has some independent control over graphics, that frees up our graphics operator to work on other graphics rather than having to be completely intensive in the moment, waiting for the technical director to call for a graphic.
