LAS VEGAS, NV (April 15, 2012)
-- Panasonic has introduced the BT-LH2170, an 546.1 mm (21.5 inches) LCD production monitor with native 1920 x 1080 HD resolution, advanced 3D assist features and significant advances in functionality.

A powerhouse choice for production and broadcast, the LH2170 offers a 3D look-up table (LUT) producing faithful color hues and smooth gradation. Its production-tough die-cast chassis and 12V DC operation that make it ideal for field use, and an eco-friendly panel with mercury-free LED backlight.

The LH2170 offers critical viewing with 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. The monitor’s high brightness (250cd /m²), high contrast (1000:1), horizontally-aligned IPS panel has 178 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles; it delivers exceptional imagery with superb color accuracy and exhibits minimal changes in brightness and color due to the viewing angle. The LH2170’s 3D-LUT with six-pole color correction includes a look-up table for each signal level, and applies 10-bit image processing to each RGB color to balance the six coordinate axes of the three primary colors (RGB) and their complementary colors (CMY), resolving color drifting at low light levels and keeping colors vividly natural.

The 3D assist functionality is ideal for production crews that require 3D review in the field, such as when using a 3D rig system. The LH2170 augments the 3D assist functions with the introduction of a top and bottom display in addition to side-by-side display (for a 2D view of various 3D checks including composition, convergence, color and luminance, focus and zoom position, and parallax); a Focus-in-Red focus assist, including in Side-by-Side mode; an additional 1.5% interval vertical marker and not only gray but color subtraction in overlay.

Advanced features new to the LH2170 are an in-monitor display; a Y-Map display that makes it easy to confirm luminance level map; a Zebra display that is the same function as a professional camera features to detect the level over or assigned in between level portion; and a two window display that can be used in combination with the Y-Map or Zebra displays. The LH2170 will display closed captions with an SDI or video input; it supports the EIA/CEA-708 closed captioning standard (EIA/CEA-608 SD-SDI closed captioning standard),

The LH2170 incorporates diverse video inputs and remote terminals to realize superb operability in a system configuration, including HDMI, 3G-SDI, HD/SD-SDI, Digital and analog DVI-I (Single Link), composite and GPI inputs, as well as RS-232C and RS-485. The new RS-485 Serial Remote permits up to 32 monitors to be connected in a loop-through configuration, each of which can be designated and controlled by a distinct ID number. TSL commands allow text display (8 alphanumeric characters) and tally indication. The monitor also supports unique Panasonic commands (equivalent to RS-232C).

The BT-LH2170 will be available in the winter 2012 at a targeting suggested list price less than $4,500. For more information, visit www.panasonic.com/broadcast.
