Panasonic will release the "P2 cam" AJ-PX800 memory card camera recorder in October 2014. It will feature network connectivity and provide superb picture quality, high mobility and excellent cost performance.

Weighing only about 2.8kg (6.2 lb) (main unit), the AJ-PX800 is the world's lightest*1 2/3-type shoulder-type camera-recorder equipped with three MOS image sensors, exhibiting high mobility in news-gathering situations. It supports AVC-ULTRA*2 dual-codec recording from master-grade to network streaming low bit-rate recording. With that, picture quality and recorded data rate can be selected from AVC-Intra or AVC-LongG according to the application, and also the low-rate AVC-Proxy file recorded allows support for network-based operation and off-line editing.

Built-in network functions support wired LAN, wireless LAN*3 and 4G/LTE*4 network connections. This enables on-site preview, data upload to a server and streaming, contributing to effective operation in news gathering situations where speed is of the essence.

The AJ-PX800 will be exhibited at BIRTV2014 to be held from Wednesday, August 27 to Saturday, August 30, 2014 at China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

1. The AJ-PX800 offers high mobility thanks to the world's lightest*1 weight. Its camera section features three MOS sensors and provides high picture quality and advanced functions to respond to broadcasting needs.

The AJ-PX800 is the world's lightest in its class at approximately 2.8kg (6.2 lb) for the main unit. The 2.2 megapixel 2/3type MOS (RGB 3) image sensors adopted offer full-pixel HD (1920 × 1080) resolution, F12 (59.94 Hz) or F13 (50 Hz) sensitivity and low noise with an S/N of 62 dB. It also achieves rich gradation and vibrant color reproduction.
Moreover, a variety of functions are packed into this one camera, including CAC (Chromatic Aberration Compensation) where a small amount of circumjacent chromatic aberration (circumjacent blur) that is not corrected by the lens is compensated, DRS (Dynamic Range Stretcher) where blocked shadows and blown highlights are suppressed to achieve a visually wide dynamic range and Advanced Flash Band Compensation (FBC) for high-precision flash band detection and compensation.

2. The recorder section offers AVC-ULTRA codec recording capability, two slots and a variety of recording modes.

The image quality and bit rate can be selected to match the application. This is made possible by Panasonic's professional A/V codec family, AVC-ULTRA, provided as standard to meet the particular needs of broadcasting and video production*2 to streaming. HD/SD Multi Format/Multi Codec is also supported. The AJ-PX800 records 1080/60i*5 as well as 24p*5, 30p*5 and 720p HD/SD multiple format. It also supports 50i, 50p and 25p by 59.94 Hz/50 Hz switching for convenient use in productions headed for global use. Conventional DVCPRO HD/DVCPRO50/DVCPRO/DV codec recording is also supported as well as SD (480/576) recording. Two P2 cards can also be accepted. Using memory card adapter AJ-P2AD1G　(sold separately), microP2 cards can be used.

3．Network connectivity achieves a faster news workflow. Wired LAN, wireless LAN*3 and 4G/LTE*4 networks are supported.

The standard LAN (Ethernet) port allows network connection via a wired LAN. When the optional AJ-WM30 Wireless Module (sold separately) is installed, the AJ-PX800 gains wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11g/n) connectivity. This enables use of functions such as Proxy Preview and Camera Remote from a network-connected PC/Mac, tablet device or smartphone*6. 4G/LTE network connectivity is also supported. The AJ-PX800 can send data directly to a network server via FTP, allowing broadcast stations to edit recorded data immediately at the editing desk. Moreover, it is capable of proxy image streaming. This enables live streaming while recording images onto a memory card.*7
