Panasonic will launch the new AK-UB300 4K Multi Purpose Camera with simultaneous UHD/HD output and 2/3-type lens mount in November 2016.

Compact and lightweight, The AK-UB300 is equipped with a high resolution 4K image sensor which provides excellent image quality for sports broadcasts and other live events. Simultaneous UHD/HD output allows you to decide whether to use 4K or HD video, according to your purpose. Users can also crop HD images from 4K images at any position. This cropping function called HD Cut-out Picture makes video suitable for many types of operations. With its compact size and excellent image quality, the camera is the perfect choice for monitoring and recording for various applications, such as aerial shooting from a helicopter, port monitoring, or recording road traffic information.

The AK-UB300 is also equipped with a variety of new functions for multi purpose applications. Digital Haze Clear function ensures sufficient subject contrast and definition even under hazy conditions. Intelligent automatic adjust functions automatically correct picture level and color temperature as images are being recorded. When the camera’s flash causes light and dark areas to appear in the same frame, flash band compensation corrects it so the entire image is bright. The video output supports IP streaming with full HD. The operating workflow has greatly been innovated. Users can also build a system connecting the camera to Panasonic AW controller series, which offers the users not only excellent operating performance, but the ability to control the camera remotely via IP.

The AK-UB300 will be on exhibit at IBC 2016, the broadcasting equipment show at Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from September 9 (Fri.) to September 13 (Tues.).

1. 2/3-type (B4) lens mount for large-format 4K MOS sensor

The 4K Multi Purpose Camera is ready to serve where high-definition recording is needed: sports broadcasts, the world’s scenic spots, aerial recording scenarios, and more. The 2/3-type lens can be used with the new-generation large-format 4K MOS sensor without any external adapter. The camera achieves excellent image quality with a conversion lens specially designed for a large-format MOS sensor. Its new imaging system takes full advantage of incident light to achieve a wide dynamic range.

2. Supports simultaneous UHD/HD output

Supports simultaneous UHD/HD output so you can choose the output suiting your purpose. The following video formats are supported.

3. Supports full-HD IP streaming / IP control

Supports IP streaming with full HD. This gives you flexibility in a wide range of recording environments, innovating the workflow of a multi purpose camera. Building a system connecting the camera to a product in Panasonic AW controller series enables remote camera control via IP. Settings can be made on a web browser.

4. HD Cut-out Picture

Crops HD images from images recorded in 4K to output HD-SDI or IP video streams. Up to three cropping positions can be saved, allowing you to switch instantly by simply selecting one.

5. Convenient new functions for multi purpose applications

Digital Haze Clear prevents loss of subject contrast and definition under hazy conditions. A choice of three levels of haze removal allows you to operate without compromising image quality even in bad weather. Other functions include white balance adjustment, which automatically recognizes changes in color temperature during recording; a function to automatically switch gain in a range of -6 dB to +36 dB; and flash band compensation that brightens the entire image when the camera’s flash causes light and dark areas to appear in the same frame. The camera is built to support smooth recording by taking account of operating performance under a variety of conditions.
