Face detection/tracking AE&AF function

Face detection AE&AF function

A face is detected from the recording image, and the focus and exposure is adjusted to that face.

Select the [CAMERA] menu → [USER SW] → [USER1] to [USER12] → [FACE DETECT].

Select the function to use in the [CAMERA] menu → [SW MODE] → [FACE DETECT/TRACKING MODE].

  • Select [FACE DETECT/TRACKING AF] when using with auto focus only.

  • Select [FACE DETECT/TRACKING AE&AF] when using with auto focus and exposure correction.

Set to one of the following so the auto focus and the exposure correction (auto iris, auto shutter, auto gain) will operate.

  • Auto mode: Toggle the <AUTO/MANUAL> switch to <AUTO>, and set the operation to automatically correct with the [CAMERA] menu → [AUTO SW]. ([AUTO SW])

  • Auto focus: Toggle the <FOCUS> switch to <A>. (<FOCUS> switch)

  • Auto iris: Switch to auto iris with the <IRIS> button. (<IRIS> button)

Press the USER button assigned to [FACE DETECT], or touch the USER button icon.

imageicon_face_AF or imageicon_face_AEAF is displayed in the camera image screen, and the face detection will start. (Face detection mode)

  • The detected faces are displayed with frames (orange: main face frame, white: face detection frame).

Auto focus and exposure correction are performed against the main face frame.

  • Maximum number of the face detection frames is 9 frames, and the one that is larger and close to the center of the image is prioritized.

Tracking AE&AF function

By touching the arbitrary subject on the LCD monitor during the face detection mode, focus and exposure are constantly adjusted automatically while tracking that subject.

imageicon_track is displayed in the camera image screen, and the tracking will start. (Tracking mode)

  • A green frame (tracking frame) imageicon_tuibiwaku is displayed on the touched subject.

  • To change the subject to track, touch an arbitrary subject.

  • The tracking mode will end and returns to face detection mode in following cases:

    • When the power is turned back on

    • When the <THUMBNAIL> button is pressed to switch between the thumbnail screen and the camera image screen

    • When the USER button assigned to [FACE DETECT] is pressed, or when the USER button icon is touched

    • When the <EXIT> button is pressed

    • When the touched subject cannot be tracked

(The tracking frame will flash in red, and disappears after approximately three seconds. The tracking mode will continue if the subject is detected again before the tracking frame disappears, or if another subject is touched.)
