Focus assist function

The focus assist function enables you to focus the target easily.

Expanded display, focus assist color display (in which the contours of the image are displayed in the selected color), and focus bar display are available in the viewfinder.

Expanded display [EXPAND]

Set to [EXPAND] in the main menu → [SW MODE] → [FOCUS ASSIST MODE] beforehand.

When the <FOCUS ASSIST> button is pressed, the center of the screen is expanded approx. three times so that you can focus the image easily.

  • In the expanded display, the status display and zebra pattern disappear, and [EXPANDED] is displayed at the top of the screen.

  • The method to cancel the expanded display can be selected in the main menu → [SW MODE] → [EXPAND MODE].

    • [10SEC]: Cancels in 10 seconds.

    • [HOLD]: Does not cancel until the <FOCUS ASSIST> button is pressed again.

    • [UNTIL REC]: Cancels when recording starts. Expanded display is not available during recording.

Focus assist color display [FOCUS IN COLOR]

Set the main menu → [SW MODE] → [FOCUS ASSIST MODE] to [FOCUS IN COLOR] in advance.

Select one of [RED]/[GREEN]/[BLUE] in the main menu → [SW MODE] → [FOCUS IN COLOR SETTING] → [PEAKING COLOR].

The contour of the image is bordered with the selected color when the <FOCUS ASSIST> button is pressed. At this time, the screen frame will be in the selected color.

Adjust the focus so that the contour of the subject to focus will turn into the selected color.

Focus bar display [FOCUS BAR]

The focus bar can be displayed when [ON] is set in the main menu → [DISPLAY SETUP] → [FOCUS BAR].

The degree of focus is indicated by the length of the bar.

  • White bar: Focus bar display

  • Green line: Peak display
