Focus assist function

The focus assist function enables you to focus the target easily.

Enlarged display, peaking display (display with the contour in the video is framed in red), focus square display (display with the size of square displayed in each area), and monochrome display is possible with the output video from the <VF SDI> terminal.

It is also possible to make the focusing easier by changing the aperture of the iris to decrease the depth of field.

Expanded display

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [EXPAND1 SW]/[EXPAND2 SW] to [ON].

  • The display mode can be set in [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [EXPAND MODE]/[- POS1]/[- VALUE1]/[- POS2]/[- VALUE2].

Focus in color

Peaking display (focus in red)

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [FOCUS IN COLOR SW] to [ON].

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [- COLOR SEL] to [RED].

Adjust the focus so that the contours of the subject you want to focus on turn red.

[GREEN] or [WHITE] can also be selected in [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [- COLOR SEL].

The region that is colored is changed by [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [- PEAKING VALUE].

The video in background can be changed to monochrome by [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [- MONO].

Focus square display

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [FOCUS SQUARES SW] to [ON].

Adjust the focus so that the square size displayed in the area of the subject to be focused becomes the largest.

Monochrome display

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [VF SDI FOCUS ASSIST] → [MONO SW] to [ON].

Open iris focus assist function

This is a function to make focusing easier by decreasing the depth of field by opening the iris. At the same time, the brightness is kept constant by operating the shutter.

The diaphragm is operated automatically when the EF lens is used.

The diaphragm is required to be operated manually when the PL lens is used.

Set [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [OPEN IRIS FOCUS ASSIST] → [OPEN IRIS FOCUS SW] to [ON].

The function is automatically cancelled when the time set in [MENU] → [OUTPUT SETTINGS] → [OPEN IRIS FOCUS ASSIST] → [VALUE] has elapsed.

The time that can be set is 10 seconds or 30 seconds.

The function is forced to cancel when the recording is started.
