The focus assist function enables you to focus the target easily.
Expanded display [EXPAND]
When [EXPAND] is set in the main menu → [CAMERA] → [SW MODE] → [FOCUS ASSIST], if the <USER> button (<USER MAIN>/<USER1>/<USER2>) to which [ASSIST] is assigned or the <RET> button is pressed, the center of the screen is expanded approx. three times so that you can easily bring the image into focus.
In the expanded display, the status display and zebra pattern disappear, and [EXPANDED] is displayed at the top of the screen.
The method to cancel the expanded display can be selected in the main menu → [CAMERA] → [SW MODE] → [EXPAND MODE].
[10SEC]: Cancels in 10 seconds.
[HOLD]: Cancels when the button to which [ASSIST] is assigned is pressed.
[UNTIL REC]: Cancels when recording starts. Expanded display is not available during recording.
Focus in red display [IN RED]
When [IN RED] is set in the main menu → [CAMERA] → [SW MODE] → [FOCUS ASSIST], if the <USER> button (<USER MAIN>/<USER1>/<USER2>) to which [ASSIST] is assigned or the <RET> button is pressed, red borders appear around the contours of the image displayed in the viewfinder or the LCD monitor.
Make adjustment so that the contours of the subject you want to focus on turn red.
Focus bar display [FOCUS BAR]
The focus bar can be displayed when [ON] is set in the main menu → [VF] → [VF INDICATOR] → [FOCUS BAR].
The degree of focus is indicated by the length of the bar.
Not in focus
The bar extends to the right when the viewfinder is in-focus.
