[REC/PB]

These are various types of setting items when performing camera recording and playback.

[REC FUNCTION]

[RECORDING]

Select the recording format.

[NORMAL]: Performs standard recording.

[INTERVAL]: Performs interval recording.

[ONE SHOT]: Performs one-shot recording.

[LOOP]: Performs loop recording.

  • Factory setting: [NORMAL]

Only [NORMAL] can be selected in the following cases:

  • When the main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [REC SIGNAL] is set to [SDI]

  • When the main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [REC FORMAT] is set to [AVC-G50] or [AVC-G25]

[HOLD]

Selects whether to hold [RECORDING] settings.

[ON]: Holds the settings.

[OFF]: Does not hold the settings. It will always be [NORMAL] the next time that power is turned on.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[REC TIME]

Sets the recording time (one cut) when [INTERVAL] or [ONE SHOT] is selected in [RECORDING].

[PAUSE TIME]

Sets the time to pause recording when [INTERVAL] is selected in [RECORDING].

When [NTSC] or [NTSC (J)] is selected in the setting of the region of use ([OPTION MENU] → [AREA SETTING] → [AREA SELECT]):

When [PAL] is selected in the setting of the region of use ([OPTION MENU] → [AREA SETTING] → [AREA SELECT]):

[START DELAY]

Sets the time before start recording after the <REC> button is pressed when [INTERVAL] is selected in [RECORDING].

[0s]…[10s]

  • Factory setting: [0s]

[ONE CLIP REC]

Selects the one-clip recording mode.

[ON]: Operates in one-clip recording mode.

[OFF]: Does not operate in one-clip recording mode.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

This item cannot be changed in the following cases:

  • When the main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [REC SIGNAL] is set to [SDI]

  • When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [SIMUL REC] is set to [ON]

  • When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [RECORDING] is set to an item other than [NORMAL]

[PRE REC]

Selects whether to perform pre-recording. Sets the time to perform continuous pre-recording when [ON] is selected.

[ON]: Performs pre-recording.

[OFF]: Does not perform pre-recording.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[ON] cannot be selected in the following cases:

  • When the main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [REC SIGNAL] is set to [SDI]

  • When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [RECORDING] is set to an item other than [NORMAL]

[PRE REC TIME]

Configures pre-recording settings.

Sets a time that can be recorded by counting backward from the time that the <REC> button is pushed.

Up to a maximum of 15 seconds can be selected in DVCPRO and DV modes, and up to 8 seconds in other modes.

HD, DVCPRO50: [0s]…[8s]

  • Factory setting: [8s]

DV, DVCPRO: [0s]…[15s]

  • Factory setting: [8s]

Pre-recording setup takes up to 3 seconds in the following cases.

  • When the main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [LINE&FREQ] and [REC FORMAT] are set to 1080P mode and [AVC-I100] respectively

[SIMUL REC]

Selects whether to perform simultaneous recording.

[ON]: Operates in simultaneous recording mode.

[OFF]: Does not operate in simultaneous recording mode.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

This item cannot be changed in the following cases:

  • When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [RECORDING] is set to an item other than [NORMAL]

  • When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [ONE CLIP REC] is set to [ON]

  • When main menu → [REC/PB] → [DUAL CODEC SETUP] → [CODEC USAGE] is set to [PROXY REC(P2)] or [PROXY REC(P2&SD)]

[REC/PB SETUP]

Description of settings

[REC MEDIA]

Selects the slot for the media to be recorded.

[P2]: Uses P2 memory cards (slots 1 and 2).

[microP2]: Uses microP2 memory cards (slots 3 and 4).

  • Factory setting: [microP2]

Recording is not possible when a card is inserted into a slot that is not selected.

[FILE SPLIT]

Selects the split method of the recording file.

[ONE FILE]: The clip is recorded in one file in the AVC-LongG format to a microP2 memory card (exceeding 32 GB).

[SPLIT]: The clip is split every 4 GB regardless of the recording format.

[SHORT SPLIT]: The clip is split every 128 seconds regardless of the recording format.

  • Factory setting: [SPLIT]

If the clip is recorded in one file, it cannot be copied to a P2 memory card or 32 GB microP2 memory card, or copied or exported to storage.

When [ONE FILE] is selected, proxy recording is not possible. Also, when the main menu → [REC/PB] → [DUAL CODEC SETUP] → [CODEC USAGE] is set to [PROXY REC(P2)] or [PROXY REC(P2&SD)], [ONE FILE] cannot be selected.

It will be divided to recording files of approximately 128 seconds when [SHORT SPLIT] is selected, but they can be operated as a single clip when the thumbnail of the clips are operated on the P2 device. A single continuous recording time is approximately 3.5 hours.

[SHORT SPLIT] is disabled during the interval recording, the one-shot recording, and the loop recording.

[START TEXT MEMO]

Selects the function that automatically adds a text memo at recording start position each time recording is started.

[ON]: A text memo is added to each recording.

[OFF]: Does not add a text memo.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

Text memos added when this item is [ON] indicate the recording start position. To record text memos as character information, refer to “Setting clip metadata”.

This item is disabled when the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [RECORDING] is set to an item other than [NORMAL].

[P.ON REC SLOT SEL]

Selects the slot order targeted for recording when power is turned on.

[HOLD]: Records from the recording slot used the last time power was turned off.

[SLOT 1/3]: Each time the power is turned on, this changes in order from slot 1 or 3 (slot selected in [REC MEDIA]) to the recording target card.

  • Factory setting: [HOLD]

[REC START]

Selects acceptance of the start of recording.

[ALL]: Accepts start of recording during stop, during recording pause, and during playback.

[NORMAL]: Accepts start of recording during stop and during recording pause.

  • Factory setting: [NORMAL]

If the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC FUNCTION] → [RECORDING] is set to an item other than [NORMAL], operation will be [NORMAL] even when this item is set to [ALL].

[REC TALLY]

Selects the method to display recording status at the camera.

[RED]: The red tally lamp illuminates.

[GREEN]: The green tally lamp illuminates.

[CHAR]: The characters “REC” are displayed in the viewfinder.

  • Factory setting: [RED]

If set [GREEN] or [CHAR], the viewfinder front tally lamp, back tally lamp and rear tally lamp do not light while this camera is recording.

[ACCESS LED]

Selects whether to light the access LED of the P2 card.

[ON]: Lights.

[OFF]: Does not light.

  • Factory setting: [ON]

[SEEK POS SEL]

Selects the position to move when the <FF/REW> button is pressed while playback is paused.

[CLIP]: Top of the clip

[CLIP&TEXT MEMO]: Top of the clip and text memo location

  • Factory setting: [CLIP]

[DUAL CODEC SETUP]

[CODEC USAGE]

Selects media for recording proxy data.

[PROXY REC(P2)]: Records proxy data to a P2 card.

[PROXY REC(P2&SD)]: Records proxy data to both a P2 card and SD memory card.

[STREAMING]: Outputs video stream.

[OFF]: Does not record proxy data.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

For the combination with the main recording, refer to “System modes and recording functions”.

When the main menu → [REC/PB] → [REC/PB SETUP] → [FILE SPLIT] is set to [ONE FILE], only [OFF] can be selected.

[PROXY REC MODE]

Sets the recording mode of proxy data.

For details on each mode, refer to “Recording modes and recording signals (video/audio)”.

This item cannot be set when clips are being linked in one-clip recording.

1080 mode: [STD 2CH MP4], [LOW 2CH MOV], [HQ 2CH MOV], [HQ 4CH MOV], [SHQ 2CH MOV], [AVC-G6 2CH MOV]

  • Factory setting: [STD 2CH MP4]

720 mode: [HQ 2CH MOV], [SHQ 2CH MOV], [AVC-G6 2CH MOV]

  • Factory setting: [HQ 2CH MOV]

SD mode: [STD 2CH MP4], [LOW 2CH MOV]

  • Factory setting: [STD 2CH MP4]

[STREAMING MODE]

Sets the transfer mode for streaming.

[LOW], [HQ], [AVC-G6], [SHQ (QoS)], [AVC-G (QoS)]

  • Factory setting: [HQ]

[TC SUPER]

Sets whether to superimpose time code display on the proxy data recorded images.

[UPPER]: Superimposes the time code display at the top of the recorded images.

[LOWER]: Superimposes the time code display at the bottom of the recorded images.

[OFF]: Does not superimpose time code display on recorded images.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

This item cannot be set when clips are being linked in one-clip recording.

The time code is not superimposed in the following cases.

  • When main menu → [SYSTEM] → [SYSTEM MODE] → [LINE&FREQ] is set to [720-60P] or [720-50P]

  • When the recording mode of the proxy data is [AVC-G6 2CH MOV]

[PROXY DISP]

Selects whether to display proxy data recorded information or messages in the viewfinder and LCD monitor.

[ON]: Displays proxy recording information and SD memory card remaining capacity at the start of recording.

Warning information is displayed at all times.

[OFF]: Displays proxy and SD memory card warning information for only three seconds when warning occurs.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

This can also be set in the main menu → [VF] → [VF INDICATOR] → [PROXY DISP].

[QoS MAX RATE]

Sets the maximum bitrate for video data when the QoS is operating. This setting is used when the streaming distribution is started from the operation of the camera.

This can be set when the main menu → [I/F SETUP] → [USB/LAN] → [STREAMING SETTING] → [START TRIGGER] is set to [CAMERA].

[256Kbps], [512Kbps], [1Mbps], [1.5Mbps], [2.5Mbps], [3.5Mbps], [6Mbps], [9Mbps]

  • Factory setting: [9Mbps]

[9Mbps] cannot be selected when [STREAMING MODE] is set to [SHQ (QoS)].

[QoS MIN RATE]

Sets the minimum bitrate for video data when the QoS is operating. This setting is used when the streaming distribution is started from the operation of the camera.

This can be set when the main menu → [I/F SETUP] → [USB/LAN] → [STREAMING SETTING] → [START TRIGGER] is set to [CAMERA].

[256Kbps], [512Kbps], [1Mbps], [1.5Mbps], [2.5Mbps], [3.5Mbps], [6Mbps], [9Mbps]

  • Factory setting: [256Kbps]

[STREAMING LATENCY]

Sets the delay mode during the streaming distribution. This setting is used when the streaming distribution is started from the operation of the camera.

This can be set when the main menu → [I/F SETUP] → [USB/LAN] → [STREAMING SETTING] → [START TRIGGER] is set to [CAMERA].

[NORMAL]: Set if you want to emphasize the stability of streaming.

[SHORT]: Set if you want to emphasize the reduction of streaming delay.

  • Factory setting: [NORMAL]

[TC/UB]

[UBG MODE]

Selects the user bits mode.

[USER]: Selects the user bits value set in the status display.

[TIME]: Selects the local time. (hh, mm, ss)

[DATE]: Selects the local date and time. (YY, MM, DD, hh)

[EXT]: Records the user bits values currently input to the <TC IN> terminal.

[TCG]: The value of [TCG] is recorded as user bits.

[FRAME RATE]: Selects camera imaging information (such as frame rate).

[REGEN]: Reads the value recorded to the card and continuously records that value.

  • Factory setting: [USER]

[VITC UBG MODE]

Selects the VITC user bits mode.

[USER/EXT]: When [UBG MODE] is [EXT], follows the value and when other than [EXT], records the user value set in [USER].

[TIME]: Selects the local time. (hh, mm, ss)

[DATE]: Selects the local date and time. (YY, MM, DD, hh)

[TCG]: The value of time code generator is recorded as user bits.

[FRAME RATE]: Selects camera imaging information (such as frame rate).

[REGEN]: Reads the value recorded to the card and continuously records that value.

  • Factory setting: [USER/EXT]

This item is not displayed in 720P mode, and the setting of [FRAME RATE] is used.

[DF MODE]

Sets drop frame mode/non-drop frame mode of the [CTL] and [TCG].

[DF]: Uses the drop frame mode.

[NDF]: Uses the non-drop frame mode.

  • Factory setting: [DF]

This item is not displayed when the system frequency is 50 Hz.

[TCG SET HOLD]

If the internal time code generator is set with the <TCG> switch before turning power off, switch [ON]/[OFF] for the function that recording starts from the preset value when turning on the power to start recording.

[ON], [OFF]

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[FIRST REC TC]

Selects whether to regenerate the time code to the value on the P2 card at the first recording after power is turned on, a P2 card is inserted, or the P2 card targeted for recording is switched.

[PRESET]: Uses the internal time code of the camera.

[REGEN]: Regenerates time code based on the clip with the newest date and time among the clips recorded to the P2 card targeted for recording.

  • Factory setting: [REGEN]

Make sure the date and time are correctly set. For the setting method, refer to “Setting the date/time of the internal clock”.

[TC OUT]

Selects the time code output to the <TC OUT> terminal.

[TCG]: Outputs the time code generator value at all times.

[TCG/TCR]: Outputs the time code generator value during recording and the time code reader value during playback.

  • Factory setting: [TCG]

[TC OUTPUT REF]

Sets the output delay of time code output from the <TC OUT> terminal.

For details, refer to “Externally locking the time code”.

[TC IN]: Matches to external time code input.

[VIDEO OUT]: Matches to output images.

  • Factory setting: [TC IN]

[REC CHECK REGEN]

Selects whether to regenerate to the time code last recorded to the P2 card at the next recording when the <RET> button that assigns recording check function or the <USER> button is pressed.

[ON]: Regenerates.

[OFF]: Does not regenerate.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[REC META DATA]

Item

Description of settings

[LOAD]

Loads the metadata upload file saved to the SD memory card.

[RECORD]

Sets whether to add loaded metadata at a recording.

[ON]: Adds metadata.

[OFF]: Does not add metadata.

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[USER CLIP NAME]

Sets data to be recorded to [USER CLIP NAME].

When [RECORD] is [ON]:

[TYPE1]: Records setting values of the loaded data.

[TYPE2]: Records the loaded data and counter value.

  • Factory setting: [TYPE1]

When [RECORD] is [OFF]:

[TYPE1]: Records the same value as [GLOBAL CLIP ID].

[TYPE2]: Records the same value as [CLIP NAME].

  • Factory setting: [TYPE1]

[CARD SERIAL]

Enables/disables the function for storing the text memo with the serial number or the type of card as metadata.

[ON], [OFF]

  • Factory setting: [OFF]

[INITIALIZE]

Deletes all loaded metadata and initializes.

[PROPERTY]

Checks and corrects loaded metadata.

This item is enabled while the thumbnail is displayed.

[LANGUAGE]

Sets the language used to display metadata.

[ENGLISH], [JAPANESE]

  • Factory setting: [JAPANESE]

This items is displayed when [NTSC (J)] is selected in [OPTION MENU] → [AREA SETTING].
